My office ( HOMEPAGE EUROPA
/ EUROPA ARENA ) is the Austrian partner of a European network of national activists in European
countries. I support the European Commission with their programme EUROPA –
private and independent.
This means:

I act as an adviser on planning, realizing and organising such projects
-
I inform about the development and the programme Europe and help to look for international partners
- I encourage and coordinate the cooperation among citizens in Austria and Europe.
The programme EUROPA of the European Union has been a challenge for me to find
new methods and ways of international working together. I attach great
importance to the citizens`own ideas and initiative and want them to participate
in a direct way.
I try to integrate especially those citizens who have hardly had any chance to
take part in international exchange programmes.
I, for my part, work together with other activists in an
international network.
As a service I offer all the new activists co-operation with the

Organisation
of the Europa Arena
The organisation Europa Arena brings together people from
all lines of thinking in all fields.Scientists, businessmen,
futurologists and media experts will be faced with main issues
concerning our present and future.
Internet and Politics in the Europa Arena
The Internet is an important medium which is definitely more than a
platform for marketing. It can stimulate political processes and thus
reach greater legitimacy. In the next few years democracy will depend
on the commitment of the citizens and the type of the political
institutions. Only by real communication will the passive watching
turn into active participation and thus be successful.
Together with the citizens, the politicians and the media the Europa
Arena will pose questions and try to solve them by discussion. But how
will democracy develop if citizens express their opinion and pass it
on via PC to the political institutions ? This question and other
important topics shall be dealt with.

PART 1 : INTERNET AND
POLITICS
I´d like to present a law, a political event or something like that
which fails to meet the interest of the people. In a democracy
political actions are committed to the opinion of the people think
we must pursue different paths to find out the people’s wishes and
then force politicians to take them into account.
Let us look at the following situation :
It may be the case that somebody agrees with the foreign policy of a
party. Yet he may not approve of other decisions of this party, e.g.
it is hard to believe that citizens who have to economize, will
agree upon their elective representative’s decision to raise their
own income.
The Internet offers you a possibility of telling the politicians
what the people really want.
Support this idea.

PART 2 : VISIONS AND ANXIETY
I´ll present an opinion which is a little
bit unusual, I think, however, that it meets the citizens`interests.
The Internet offers the chances to tell the politicians what the
people really want.
Express your opinion. I’m looking forward to finding many active
citizens who join me and my work, who show initiative and make
contributions.
It is my aim to offer general conditions which help to develop
visions together and to build up a network of people who have
far-reaching ideas and want to try out new ways of communication and
participation.
Now I`d like to present my views and ask you to make your comment.
In the last century the middle classes ensured law and order in
Europe.The people were convinced that their economic system was good
for the entire population. Today, however, fewer and fewer people
believe in this economic system. You can see this in all European
states. The technical development has led to a two-class system :
the propertied classes and the service-oriented classes.
What is even more, we can observe the decline of the educational
system in Europe, the extent of which can be felt easily by every
citizen It requires more effort to survive. The insecurity is rising. the stress is getting
unbearable. In addition to that we
notice that the world population is rising tremendously. Thus the
distance between the educated and the uneducated world has assumed
alarming proportions. The rich control the world economy whereas the
poor turn to crime and drugs. Law and order, reason, respect for our
cultural lifestyle have dated quickly.
Politicians do not pay attention to that. Don’t you agree with me
that greed and corruption dominate our world ?
Don’t tell me that it’s not the right time to do something about it.
I am convinced that if we can bring people together who share the
same opinion, we will succeed.

EDUCATION - future-oriented.
The international economic development is
subject to change. It is a fact that in the next few years the
present economic system will change fundamentally . Therefore the
nature of work, the kind of learning will change as well as the
consumption of products. Thus we will establish a balance between
the demands of the profits which may be achieved by taking care of
our resources. The past economic changes, which we call
revolutionary today, will surely be surpassed.
The image of sustainability will force its way into our society.
The great multinational groups have already developed a new strategy
which combines environmental problems with economic and social ones.
In 1992 the United Nations laid down regulations for the people in
order to ensure the highest possible quality of life and economic
efficiency. To lay the foundations for future generations we must
protect our natural resources . Therefore it is essential to
increase the cooperation of all groups in the field of economy,
science and politics to realize these aims.
EUROPA ARENA is willing to take up this challenge. With your
help and commitment we will secure the future of our society.
